Alpenglow in the Garden

From our vantage on our hill, the sun sets over the Marin Headlands this time of year, flooding the house and garden with that magic orange light.
My brother experienced an epiphany today. He will be fifty-eight years old in November. Today was his first to wake up in Yosemite National Park. He awoke with a view of Clouds’ Rest. That even sounds romantic and splendid. And it is. He called me. Joyful. Full of wonder and awe. What a fine thing it was to hear that in my brother’s voice. I’ll see him in a few days, and we will go to Point Reyes National Seashore.
And it is a fine thing to water the garden in alpenglow.
I can work, love, and know joy.
Walk well. God is love.
