Hikers Are Spiritual Beings

Posted on | October 27, 2008 | Comments Off

I think that’s the magic. And it is as if my eyes are just opening. Elaine brought the mail down. And there was a package from Suzanne Finney, Tailwinds. She and I were in Big Bear this year at the Motel 6 at overlapping times. She got a ride from the manager, who was playing liturgical music in his car. Libera, new dawn. I am moved to tears. And I am realizing that the hikers I connect most completely with are those with whom I connect spiritually. I had been missing that in all my mental ramblings about what to write about hikers. And Tailwind’s gift opened my eyes.

We walk in awe. Sometimes all day long. We come to expect wonder and beauty. I am ever so glad I began to walk long trails. I am so blessed by the company of the hikers I know.

Walk well. God is love.

Old Man Walking - a site written by an old man who walks. And writes code for web pages. And gardens. The site is intended to allow me to share my experience in these areas. That's all.
