More Vegetables

More is better. I have changed my mind. Again. I am going to change the layout of the garden to increase the amount of space available for cultivation. More food.

Garden plan
New layout (left) overlaying old layout. The old layout is outlined in black. The new beds are overlayed in green, with brown access paths. I’ll do the other half next winter.

The previous owners of the house wanted an attractive space, and grew only tomatoes, garlic, herbs, peas, and beans. I have other plans. It is a big undertaking, at least for me:

  • Have loquat tree removed
  • Remove good soil
  • Excavate to depth of one foot
  • Haul debris
  • Loosen one foot deeper
  • Install 2" X 6" frames
  • Place soil
  • Amend soil
  • Plant
  • Care
  • Enjoy

I am eager to get started.

Today I planted

  • Snap peas (Cascadia)
  • Mustard
  • Turnips
  • White onions
  • Mesclun
  • Cumin
  • Oregano
  • Basil and
  • Chives

Walk well. God is love.
