Compare and Contrast

What is upright behavior? What is ethical?

The New York Times published a story today about General Barry R. McCaffrey and his role as a news commentator, lobbyist, corporation executive, confidant to generals.

Is there any part of American life left untarnished?

The sense of what is allowable has diminished to the point of no meaning. One of the advantages of being old is having experience which spans decades. Neither Chester Nimitz, Dwight Eisenhower, Ray Spruance, nor even George Patton would have sullied themselves in this way.

What is happening? This is not in the purview of lawmaking. It is about character. It is either present in someone or not. I think the Times article is important. Perhaps public scrutiny is the solution.

Walk well. God is love.

Old Man Walking - a site written by an old man who walks. And writes code for web pages. And gardens. The site is intended to allow me to share my experience in these areas. That's all.
