A Special Place in Hell
They do not stop. The torturers. The liars. The war profiteers and their henchmen. In my view Vice President Cheney is all of these.
Andrew Sullivan does not stop either. He is a bulldog. Going after torturers. Shining a light in their eyes. Chris Wallace of Fox News recently interviewed the former Vice President.

More Is Less
I am finding that when I spend more time preparing meals, I am satisfied with fewer calories.
Mindful selection and preparation fulfill the hunger. That hunger is not just about quantity need. But for satisfying the need for pleasure and spirit.
I think this is true.
Walk well. God is love.

Dancing Through Cobwebs
Fleetwood Mac — Stevie Nicks sings Sara. 1979 live.
I did not make it to Joqauin Miller Park yesterday. It was hot. That is a reason. Not an excuse. And I missed the quick walking. So I got up early and went this morning. Locked the face of the radio in the trunk. There is a [...]
God’s Work
Harry and his family live across the street. Harry IV, that is. Harry helps dispose of some of our excess vegetables. A good neighbor. Harry has a new addition to the family, Sam. Great joy on Coolidge Avenue.
So. Harry’s father, Harry III, and mother are staying for awhile to help. Harry III is also [...]
Senator Edward Kennedy R.I.P.
I bumped into Ted Kennedy one day. Literally.
I was visiting the home office of L.F. Rothcshild, Unterberg, Towbin. I was getting off the elevator and Bobby Towbin and Ted Kennedy were getting on. Bump. He was a bigger man than I had expected. Very gracious.
Tommy Unterberg and Bobby Towbin shared a glass-walled office near the [...]
Act of Faith
Planting has often been described as an act of faith. When I first planted seeds, I had little expectation of success and was surprised to see the tiny green things rise from the ground. It was glorious.
Hard work
I finally got the potatoes in the ground. Loosened the soil to one foot, worked in composted chicken [...]
Old Dogs; New Tricks
I am relishing my sixties. Learning something new almost all day long.
There is a Twelve Step principle I especially appreciate: “We were willing to let go of old ideas absolutely.” An old idea is one that I have already had. So very freeing.
Cooking, gardening, hiking, coding. They are all fairly new and all are integral [...]
Basil, Rosemary, and Thyme
Tonight I ate as fine a meal as I have eaten. Simple. Quick.
Elaine and I went to Berkeley Hort today, and on the way we talked about how my eating habits are changing. Elaine asked how they were changing. Elaine always asks. I have to have my points arranged before beginning to talk with her. [...]
An Occasion of Sin
Please take a look at Alexandra’s Kitchen. I am going to put this link in one of the columns on the right.
California. A place where people take sunshine, good food, locally grown produce, and freedom seriously. Okay. I am a place chauvinist. No apology offered.
Walk well. God is love.

Dick Tracy
My telephone is a camera that is 3/8″ thick. An iPhone. Of course it does more than function as a telephone and a camera. It is part of almost everything I do. A tether to an electronic world.
I often meet Elaine in the garage as she leaves for work. It brightens my day. She seems [...]
