President Obama and Freedom of Speech

John Stuart Mill said that all things must be allowed to be said. That what is said might be completely true and should displace the status quo. That it might be partially true and partially replace the status quo. That it might be false and in contrast, reinforce existing thought.
Mr. Bush was not a friend to truth or to transparency in government. Mr. Obama’s administration has acted to limit access of Fox network employees and has criticized the organization.
I have not heard or seen anything from Fox that would cause me to give the network anything but contempt. And hearing someone quote from a Fox source causes me to doubt that person’s intelligence and/or good will. But. For Mr. Obama or his administration to act in any way to limit them or impugn them is to give power to Fox and to belittle the Administration. A giant can only stumble when swatting a gnat.
I guess it might be okay for Vice President Biden to respond to the comments of former Vice President Cheney. But he really does not need to. The Bushists created their own demise. The Republicans are fully capable of creating contempt and disgust of their policies on their own. I enjoyed watching them become their worst enemies. And in many ways it only sullies those now in power to get into the pit with the rightists.
Walk well. God is love.
