iPad?

There was nothing ” . . . one more thing” momentous in the Apple announcement yesterday. Apple stock went down a couple of points, and is down more than eight points as I write this today. The iPad is not the iPod and it is not the iPhone.
It is a Gillette razor.
There has been a lot of news and comments about Barnes & Noble and Amazon offering e-readers. At about the same price or a bit lower than the iPad. A lot less for the same or a bit less.
But as with most devices that are all things, the iPad is not the best of anything: its backlit LED is not as conducive to long reading as the Kindle’s screen. But. Try viewing a movie or television show on Kindle. Or listening to your already large music library.
One thing about the iPad and e-readers: the viewer does not control the content. Possibly will not even own it. Apple spent more than one billion dollars to create a server farm in North Carolina. And it is not there to for MobilMe users. Not enough of them. It is there to provide streaming content for the iPhone and iPad. Apple wants to rent the razor blades to you. Yep. Mr. Jobs. Once again. Dumb like a fox.
I am not going to buy one. Yet.
Walk well. God is love.
