One day of sunshine
I was doing some gardening this morning and walked around checking the fruit trees. The citrus are in their glory. The apricot trees were bare, and the fig had small leaf buds. I just returned from a neighbor’s home and the apricot trees have put out the tiniest leaves. One day of sunshine.

The same
The same people; the same mindlessness.
Frank Rich wrote an op-ed about the rising anger and tendency towards violence on the right. As if Andrew Joseph Stack III’s flying an airplane into the building housing the IRS in Austin were, in effect, tantamount to Fort Sumter before the Civil War. His is a view I have [...]
Better than DEET

Lynne Wheldon recorded what I think might be the first commercial video about the Pacific Crest Trail: How To Hike The Pacific Crest Trail. I have watched it many times. Virtual hiking. He raises issues and has edited in responses to these issues on various subjects, including mosquitoes.
Please understand that a lot of [...]
Not shingles
Spider bite. Infected behind and around my left eye. That’s why it hurt!
But I am much better now. I slept five hours this afternoon after the antibiotics began to take effect. Phew!
Walk well. God is love.

To me today [...]
Pain
Shingles.
Excruciating pain. The kind of pain that makes me want to shout, “It’s not fair!”
I usually go to the Veterans Affairs hospital in San Francisco, but wanted to get a diagnosis and treatment for the pain as soon as possible and went to the VA clinic in Oakland. Separate systems. Fill out forms. But. The [...]

Less anxiety
It is what it is. Some think that a silly response. An evasion of the effort required for clear thought and response. Not I. An acceptance of reality. And an affirmation of letting go of worry.
I think the process I have been going through is somewhat typical: a massive case of the what-ifs. And I [...]
